Robert G. Lewandowski brings a wealth of experience counseling family owned and closely held businesses as an of counsel attorney with Abbott Nicholson. Well-acquainted with the many nuances and operational issues of such companies, Mr. Lewandowski brings a multi-dimensional approach to clients’ legal concerns.

Emphasizing cost-effective solutions, Mr. Lewandowski provides counsel on new business formation, acquisitions, shareholder relations, employment issues, tax planning, estate planning, trust and probate administration, and other small-business issues. He represents numerous businesses and individuals in federal and state courts and agencies, with an emphasis on taxing authorities such as the IRS and Michigan Department of Treasury.

He has successfully represented clients through multi-million dollar sales and acquisitions, franchise acquisitions and disputes, tax audits, and business separations.

Mr. Lewandowski joined the firm in 2002.

He was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1977 and the Florida Bar in 1982. He also was admitted to the federal bar for the U.S. District Court-Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Lewandowski earned his first law degree from Wayne State University Law School and later attended the University of Miami Law School and received a second law degree in Taxation. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan.

He is on the faculty of the Detroit campus of the University of Phoenix, teaching in the Graduate Business Program in the areas of Business Law, Employment Law, and Taxation.

He lives in Amherstburg, Ontario, and is married with three children.
