Eric D. Berlin is an Associate with Abbott Nicholson. He joined the firm in July 2020.

Mr. Berlin earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and his law degree cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law. While in law school, he was an active member of the Michigan State International Law Review and a competitor on the Moot Court & Trial Advocacy Board. On the International Law Review, Mr. Berlin served as a Senior Associate and published The Israeli Supreme Court’s Targeted Killings Judgment: A Reaffirmation of the Rule of Law During War, 21 Mich. St. Int’l. L. Rev. 517 (2013). While on the Moot Court/Trial Advocacy team, Mr. Berlin’s participation included three national competitions (where he received to individual scores in his final competition), as well as serving as the team’s Recruitment chair. While in law school, Mr. Berlin was also a participant in the Trial Practice Institute (a selective, two-year curriculum covering every stage of litigation, including pre-trial preparation, discovery, jury selection, trial and methods of alternative dispute resolution) and President of the Jewish Legal Society.

Mr. Berlin is active in the legal community as a member of the Board of Directors for the Jewish Bar Association of Michigan (since 2020), the Board of Directors for the Barristers section of the Detroit Bar Association (since 2019), as well as the Litigation, Business Law, and Young Lawyers sections of the State Bar of Michigan. Mr. Berlin is also engaged with the community through his involvement with NextGen Detroit (a branch of the Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit designed to engage young adults and professionals throughout Detroit and the metropolitan areas) and Therapy Dogs International (where he and his dog Rocky are a certified therapy team capable of visiting schools, nursing homes, and libraries).

As a result of his legal practice and communal involvement, Mr. Berlin was named a 2020 “36 Under 36” honoree by The Detroit Jewish News.

Mr. Berlin and his wife live in Huntington Woods, MI.
